Nutanix Life Cycle Manager (LCM) manages the software and firmware of the Nutanix cluster. It tracks, inventories, and updates software and firmware entities of the Nutanix cluster, with the release of version 2.6 announcing LCM had achieved a new milestone.

Following are some key new features released as part of version 2.6
Faster inventory – addresses a set of bottlenecks in the inventory process, specifically around the staging modules from the catalog service to different environments, reducing the inventory time
LCM Auto-update visibility – On every LCM inventory, LCM checks for a new version of the LCM framework. By default, if a new version is available, LCM automatically updates itself. LCM 2.6 adds a tracker for this update to the UI, to let you see the progress of the framework auto-update
Custom precheck for AOS, Prism Central, and ESXi – Before LCM 2.6, a majority of update failures were due to prechecks. LCM 2.6 lets you run prechecks without actually performing an update, which lets you isolate update failures from precheck failures. For details, see the Life Cycle Manager Guide: AOS Custom Precheck.
Support for ESXi updates on NX platforms – LCM 2.6 adds support for native ESXi hypervisor updates on Nutanix NX platforms. For details, see the Life Cycle Manager Guide: Fetching the ESX Bundle with Direct Upload.
Parallel update support for Foundation – LCM 2.6 adds parallel update support for Foundation. Parallel update means that the time needed for Foundation update does not depend on the size of the cluster.
SPR-based Nutanix G9 platforms support – LCM 2.6 adds support for the forthcoming SPR-based Nutanix G9 platforms.
Better error reporting – LCM 2.6 adds custom exception handlers for better error reporting for asynchronous module failures.
AHV/GPU update behaving incorrectly on mixed clusters – Fixed an issue where LCM AHV/GPU update did not behave correctly on mixed clusters, that is, clusters that include both nodes that contain GPU cards and nodes that do not.
